Write an essay (graduate students – 650 word minimum; undergraduate students – 500 word minimum) about your cultural background.  Describe, illustrate, and explain who and what you are in terms of the culture that is important to you. (Some examples of the cultures of which you are a part: southern U. S., church/religious association, educational level or educators group, socio-economic level, college life, or another language/country.)  Consider your language (communication style), body language (non-verbal communication), your deep culture (what you have been taught or what you have “caught” all your life), influence of peers, how well you adapt to new situations, etc.
