13.11 ( Temperature Converter App) Write an app that performs temperature conversions ( Fig. 13.28). The app should perform two types of conversions: degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius, and degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit.

a) Copying the template to your working directory. Copy the directory C: Examples Ch13 Exercises TemperatureConversion to your C: SimplyVB2010 directory.

b) Opening the app’s template file. Double click TemperatureConversion. sln in the TemperatureConversion directory to open the app.

c) Converting Fahrenheit to Celsius. To convert degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius, use this formula: celsius = ( 5 / 9) * ( fahrenheit – 32) d) Converting Celsius to Fahrenheit. To convert degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit, use this formula: fahrenheit = ( 9 / 5) * celsius + 32

e) Adding event handlers to your app. Double click each Button to add the proper event handlers to your app. These event handlers call procedures ( that you define inthe next step) to convert the degrees entered to either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Each event handler displays the result in the app’s output Label.

f) Adding Function procedures to your app. Create Function procedures to perform each conversion, using the formulas above. The user should provide the temperature to convert.

g) Formatting the temperature output. To format the temperature information, use the String. Format method. Use F as the formatting code to limit the temperature to two decimal places.

h) Running the app. Select Debug > Start Debugging to run your app. Enter a temper-ature value. Click the Convert to Fahrenheit Button and verify that the correct out-put is displayed based on the formula given. Click the Convert to Celsius Button and again verify that the output is correct.

i) Closing the app. Close your running app by clicking its close box.

j) Closing the IDE. Close the Visual Basic IDE by clicking its close box.
